The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.

A prayer shawl or blanket embraces the recipient with the unconditional love of the Lord. It is a gift reaching out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Prayer squares are given to those going on mission trips, working for social justice. Many blessings are prayed into every item we make.

Potluck with Father John on December 4

Arrangements have been made for all the members of our ministry to gather together in the Newman library at 4:00 on Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2011. Consider this your Evite to this special occasion. A volunteer would be appreciated to coordinate this event. The only item on the menu at this moment is BBQ and buns which will not feed us all (unless we have another loaves and fishes miracle). We have heard about that delicious apple pie you make with the recipe from your Grandma and that yummy spinach and strawberry salad which goes with most anything and everything. We've even had a piece of the Irish Soda Bread your family (and Cardinal Mahoney) loves. I've heard yarn lovers can really cook! Leave your comment or post if you have accepted the invitation to be an author or simply contact me at any time. Let us know what you might be able to contribute.

Hopefully, Father John, who has us on his calendar, will bless many newly knitted and crocheted items towards our goal of 35. We also have a special gift to give to someone. The weather is cooler now. It's time to "hunker down" and make something warm and toasty and beautiful.
