The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.

A prayer shawl or blanket embraces the recipient with the unconditional love of the Lord. It is a gift reaching out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Prayer squares are given to those going on mission trips, working for social justice. Many blessings are prayed into every item we make.

Prayer Squares

You may have noticed that I haven't posted for quite some time. Perhaps that is because we were all knitting like ninjas making prayer squares. How many did we end up making, Sheeba?

Gwen sent an email thanking us for the squares we gave to the group who went to Honduras. She said and I quote, "THANK YOU so much Sheeba and Chris and the whole ministry group. I picked up the prayer squares for the team and they are great! Beautiful colors and crosses knitted in, they are perfect. The team was very excited and I took the chance to tell them about prayer shawl ministry (some had never heard of it). Thank you again for making our trip really special this year!
Gwen"

Below is a picture of the group. When they returned she wrote, "We had a fantastic time. And again, thank you so much for the beautiful prayer squares. Padre Marcos and his sister, Sister Angelita really loved them! The group's journal and more pix can be found on their blog:  http://youngadult-hondurasmission.blogspot.com/
