The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.

A prayer shawl or blanket embraces the recipient with the unconditional love of the Lord. It is a gift reaching out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Prayer squares are given to those going on mission trips, working for social justice. Many blessings are prayed into every item we make.

Mission Fulfilled

Our mission to assist the Missionaries for Marcos with funding to purchase the medical supplies for their next trip to Honduras has been accomplished! Our sale was held as scheduled on December 5-6 at the Newman Center. Along with numerous hand-crafted goods, we offered delicious, mouth-watering fresh baked pastries, breads, and cakes. Our raffle this year included a framed original watercolor by Marty Bucher, a full-size afghan crocheted by Marianne Levandoski, and a large handmade basket donated to us by Carol Green. The parishioners of the Newman Center are so very generous and supportive of our cause. For them we are grateful and appreciative.

With the help and guidance of the Spirit and the desire to send the missionaries off to Honduras with their tubs full, Newman's Knitting Ninjas, although small in number, were fearless in their pursuit, and, I am so very pleased to say, succeeded in reaching their goal.
