The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.

A prayer shawl or blanket embraces the recipient with the unconditional love of the Lord. It is a gift reaching out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Prayer squares are given to those going on mission trips, working for social justice. Many blessings are prayed into every item we make.

Winter 2014 - A time to learn or refresh our skills

Just in case you might be wondering what to do during the l-o-n-g-e-s-t month of the year - February, the yarn shop in Hillsborough is offering a class that could prove to be worthwhile for all of us "imperfect" knitters. One of our members, Susan Hudson, is registered and I'm sure would enjoy some company. Check out this link and contact Susan if you might be interested in attending this class.

  1. The "fixing mistakes" class was terrific, and I promise to share what I learned at our next Newman gathering. One of the best lessons was about using a "lifeline," something I'd never even heard of until this class.
