Another good meeting last week

We had a great meeting last week Thursday in the library. Peg was there! We are so glad she was feeling good enough to join us for a while. She's been busy making prayer squares with some lovely red yarn she's had for years. We'll give them to those who will be confirmed in the spring. Sheeba reported that we still need more prayer squares for the students who will be going on the Alternative Spring Break trips in March. So keep knitting.

Carol joined us also. She has been unable to do much knitting due to a problem she is having with the nerves in her hand. She needs to rest her hands right now until she is able to have surgery to repair the damage. Our prayers are with her for a return to good health. We hope she will continue to join us at our meetings when she is able whether she knits or not. Some of us don't seem to get much knitting done at our meetings - injured or not.

We learned that Mary's 3 1/2 year old great-granddaughter did have a heart transplant and is doing well.

The prayer cloth we are making with 16 - 12 inch squares for the small faith group was not quite finished for the group's retreat which took place this past weekend. No problem - we just went onto "Plan B" and gave Paul the part that was finished. It will be completed for their first meeting this coming weekend. We do not have any pictures to post at this moment but promise to post them soon. Thank you, Mary Beth, for putting all these squares together.

Oh, and Sheeba, where did you get the Baklava? We really, really enjoyed it. We're sorry you weren't able to stay for the meeting, but thank you for the Baklava.

Some of the squares we made for the prayer cloth will be put together for a baby blanket because they just didn't work for the prayer cloth. Pregnancy Support Services (PSS) will be pleased to receive any hand made items we bring them. Mimi, who is the director of PSS, said that the moms are always thrilled to receive these items. They love little hats, booties, sweaters, blankets - even toys. Patterns can be found in our container on the shelf in the library.

We were able to make room on one of the shelves in the library (right side of TV) for some yarn. Hooray! Look for worsted weight yarn in this bin which can be used for prayer squares or with other yarn. We are still working on finding space for more of our donated yarn. It will be so convenient for all of us to be able to go to Newman and find something to work on and my husband will be thrilled to have our trunk back! Hopefully, this will be soon.
