The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.

A prayer shawl or blanket embraces the recipient with the unconditional love of the Lord. It is a gift reaching out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Prayer squares are given to those going on mission trips, working for social justice. Many blessings are prayed into every item we make.

Habitat House Dedication

It was way back in September of last year when we had a request from Kane, the student coordinator at Newman for Habitat. He asked if our ministry might be interested in giving a gift in the name of Newman to the family of the house they would be building. We were honored to be able to represent Newman in this way. Marianne took on the project with much enthusiasm. She worked on it tirelessly despite some health problems and had it finished with time to spare.

The house was built for Evy and her daughter. It was dedicated on May 4, a day filled with sunshine. Paul tells me that Evy teared up a bit when he explained how we pray with each stitch.
