The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.

A prayer shawl or blanket embraces the recipient with the unconditional love of the Lord. It is a gift reaching out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Prayer squares are given to those going on mission trips, working for social justice. Many blessings are prayed into every item we make.

The Knitting Ninjas have been invited

All you knitting ninjas out there, mark your calendars. Next Sunday, March 1, after the 11:00 AM liturgy at Newman, the Missionaries for Marcos issued an invitation to us to join them in the Activity Center when they pack for their upcoming trip to Honduras. This would be an excellent time to give them prayer squares to take along with them. Dennis, Lori, and many of the other Missionaries expressed their thanks to us for the prayer squares we sent along with them on previous trips and the prayers they symbolized. Let's strengthen our bond with them and help them prepare for their journey. That's Sunday, March 1, after the 11:00 AM liturgy in the Activity Center.
