The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.

A prayer shawl or blanket embraces the recipient with the unconditional love of the Lord. It is a gift reaching out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Prayer squares are given to those going on mission trips, working for social justice. Many blessings are prayed into every item we make.

Next meeting - August 21, 2014, 5:30 PM, Newman Library

Hope to see you all there. We have lots to talk about ... just a few things on our agenda ...
  • The Ministry Fair at Newman - August 24 and September 13-14. We will need some enthusiastic members of our ministry to "man the table."
  • The fund-raiser we hope to schedule for the first week in Advent. We want to raise a little money to send with the folks who travel to Honduras each year to work with Padre Marcos.
Hopefully the summer has been a time for relaxation and fun for you all. Let's continue the fun and relax with our hooks and needles.

"To love what you do and feel that it matters - how could anything be more fun?"
Katharine Graham
