The making of a prayer shawl is a spiritual practice which embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawls are passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.

A prayer shawl or blanket embraces the recipient with the unconditional love of the Lord. It is a gift reaching out to those in need of comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Prayer squares are given to those going on mission trips, working for social justice. Many blessings are prayed into every item we make.

Our Mission

On October 29 we sponsored a bake sale for the purpose of raising money to help finance students' participation in The Awakening Retreat , which was being held the following weekend. This retreat has been transformative in the lives of so many of those who attend.  With the help of numerous parishioners and staff and the tireless work of the members of our ministry, we were able to raise over $700.
The Activity Center welcomed those who attended the Saturday evening and Sunday morning liturgies with tables filled with deliciously made baked goods and snacks. There were chocolate tartlets, Chex Mix, apple pies, carrot cake cupcakes, breads, breakfast sandwiches, quiche, cookies, and more.
A huge "thank you" goes out to all those who contributed in any way -- those who baked, those who set up and tore down, those who were there to "man" the tables. We are thankful for the generous support of the Newman community who purchased our delicious treats!  To hold such an event requires an enormous amount of organization and just plain work -- work with a purpose which became satisfying and fun. Thank you, Judith Rizzo, for the time and effort you contributed to the organization and baking for this bake sale. You are awesome! Thank you everyone!

These are pictures from Saturday evening. The tables were filled to capacity on Sunday morning.
